HANDS ON WORKSHOP with Artist Asia Scudder

Join artist Asia Scudder for a unique, tactile exploration of shape, form, and creative suspension using one of the simplest and most expressive materials: wire.
We'll begin with a 30-minute discussion on the interplay between space, tension, and form — how shapes relate to one another, how negative space creates balance, and how tension lives between the lines we draw (or bend) in space. Drawing inspiration from both classical sculpture and modern abstraction, Asia will guide participants through thinking about how a line can move in three dimensions, how form interacts with emptiness, and how simplicity can carry emotional weight.
Then, participants will learn how to create their own small wire sculptures — whether a symbolic object, a “drawn” face in space, or an abstract form. The session emphasizes personal expression, ease of materials, and the joy of creative exploration. No previous art experience is needed — only curiosity and a willingness to try.
Participants Will:
Gain an understanding of visual tension, line, and negative space in composition
Learn how to safely and easily work with aluminum wire
Create one or more small wire sculptures to take home
Leave with a greater appreciation for form, balance, and the meditative quality of hands-on art
