About the Artist

Amy Friend is a modern textile artist living and working in West Newbury, Massachusetts, known for her foundation paper piecing and bold, contemporary quilt designs.

Amy studied Art at Bates College, focusing on Art History, and completed her MA coursework in American Art History at the University of Delaware. she worked as a museum curator before transitioning into full-time creative work. Friend transitioned then through printmaking into the textile world of quilt art. Drawn to the graphic nature of modern quilting, she began designing her own patterns, eventually creating and publishing hundreds of them over the last 15 years.
